Math In Context - Grade Level: 6 to 8
Revisiting the 3 R's: RICH Mathematics, REALISTIC Contexts, Proven RESULTS

Rich Mathematics
Mathematics in Context (MiC) is a comprehensive mathematics curriculum reaching students of all levels in grades 6, 7, and 8. It motivates the most reluctant leaner with its realistic contexts and multiple strategies while it challenges the accelerated learner to discover, explore, and understand rich math concepts. The pedagogy and mathematical content are consistent with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics' (NCTM) Principles and Standards for School Mathematics as well as the NCTM Focal Points.

Realistic Contexts Engage Students
Students develop an understanding of rich mathematics by solving problems in realistic contexts that even the most reluctant learners find interesting and engaging.

Proven Results of Student Achievement
MiC develops critical mathematical skills. Research indicates that MiC dramatically improves student performance on state tests.

Differentiate Instruction to Reach All Learners
With specific recommendations for intervention, advanced learners, hands-on learning, and English-Language Learners throughout the Teacher's Guides, it's easy to differentiate instruction.

Assess within the Lessons
Formative assessment opportunities are clearly identified on the teacher page to verify students' ongoing progress and to inform instruction.

Support Teachers
No flipping back and forth between student and teacher books. Everything needed to teach a lesson is right there on the teacher page, including a reduced image of the student text.
